2006 - A New Era Begins
The Milwaukee Mile Entered A New Era for the 2006 season and beyond

Milwaukee Mile Holdings LLC – an organization led by metro Milwaukee native and international sports marketing and real estate investment executive Craig Stoehr became the new promoter of The Milwaukee Mile in January, 2006.

Stoehr is Chairman of Milwaukee Mile Holdings and Managing Partner of Badger Pacific Equity Partners. He returned to his native Oconomowoc after spending the last eight years abroad, living and working in London, Paris, Milan, Istanbul and Dubai. He has an extensive sports marketing background. During 2002 and 2003 seasons, he was Chief Executive of the Class 1 World Powerboat Championship, which is the waterborne equivalent of Formula 1.

He oversaw the Championship’s business activities and directed the staging of 16 Grand Prix events held in a variety of countries. He also has an extensive background in world international soccer, having worked on various legal and business development matters in connection with the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups, as well as with international soccer stars Pele, Roberto Baggio and others. Stoehr began his career as a corporate attorney with the New York office of Latham & Watkins, the world’s fourth largest law firm after earning his J.D. degree from Northwestern University’s Law School and attending Marquette University Law School.

Milwaukee Mile Holdings LLC has more than two dozen distinguished individuals in a local Wisconsin investor group. This diverse collection of business leaders and community leaders represent small businesses and large corporations, female involvement and minority interests.

At the December 19, 2005 announcement, Stoehr said, “We are delighted to have finalized our agreement with State Fair Park, thereby securing the future of top-level racing in Wisconsin, as well as having a group of Wisconsin investors that comprises some of the State’s most prominent business and philanthropic leaders. We look forward to restoring The Mile to its deserved level of prominence, and to working closely with State Fair Park and the City of West Allis in the years to come.”

Milwaukee Mile Holdings currently has a provision to acquire 9.35 acres of state-owned land adjacent to The Mile along Greenfield Avenue, with plans in development for the area behind the south turn to include a hotel and retail complex, and potentially commercial and residential space.

Items completed under the direction of Milwaukee Mile Holdings LLC had been the completion of the $1 million SAFER Barrier System installation in Spring 2006, plus the purchase and placement of road course barriers meeting industry specifications, further ensuring the safety of all competitors who compete at America’s Legendary Oval.
